A few moons have passed since I last updated this blog -- go figure. Quite a few things have changed in the elapsed time. Chris graduated with his PhD in Optics, we left Orlando (thank GOD), we resided in Missouri for a couple of weeks, made our way to Michigan, moved into our new house, and began our jobs at Michigan Tech.
Whew --- busy much?
Unfortunately, we haven't been able to get in "the bush" lately, but we're hoping to get out and do more hiking and biking in the coming days. We did manage to take out the kayaks our second weekend here -- getting nicely sunburned in the process. Lac La Belle was the origin of our trip -- leaving from a nice sandy beach and going almost to Smith Fisheries. However, our bodies need a bit of time to adjust to the waves and currents found in the big lake. We tired easily on our first venture in Lake Superior and decided not to push ourselves too much -- the lake will be there the next time we wish to set sail.
I haven't even thought about my dissertation recently -- well, other than feeling guilty about not working on it. Guilt is always fun. Since I took my job here at Tech full-time, I really need to set a schedule that allows me to work on writing my dissertation. The research is pretty much done, but the writing of it weighs heavily on my mind. Oh well, such is life.
On that note, I should get back to the thing that pays the bills. Hopefully I will update this thing more regularly now that we're a bit more settled. Hope springs eternal! Maybe photos will also be posted.
